Q: Where does your business operate? A: We are located in Boorowa NSW approx. 100km north of Canberra ACT and approx 300km southwest of Sydney, Australia, Q: How big is Boorowa? A: Boorowa has a population of 1100. Boorowa is a small rural town with good everyday shops eg: IGA Supermarket, newsagency, pharmacy, bakery, butchery, post office, bendigo bank, specialty shops, cafes, eateries, laundromat, golf course, swimming pool, parklands, bike/walking tracks, local hospital Q: Is there accommodation in Boorowa? A: Yes, we provide accommodation for staff from away. A small cleaning fee is charged. There is also a motel, caravan park and 3 pubs. For long term accommodation, rental properties are available through Boorowa Real Estate. Q: How long does your work go for? A: Our run goes for 12 months of the year. |
Q: How far do you travel for work? A: All our jobs are suburban, meaning we travel each day and return to Boorowa every night. Travel to shearing sheds varies from 5 - 40mins out of town. We provide transport to the sheds daily. Q: What type of sheep do you shear in your area? A: Boorowa is a renowned wool growing area and therefore the majority of our work is merinos. We must ensure a quality job to satisfy our wool growers. Also with the fat lamb market improving we are seeing more cross bred sheep and lambs in our run. Q: Do you offer job training? A: We offer on the job training for shed hands and shearers. Traineeships with TAFE are available to willing & dedicated learners. First aid courses are run annually for all staff to attend. Q: How often and how much do you pay? A: All wages are paid at the current award rate. Wages are paid weekly. |
